Cotton

Cotton

Cotton is a vegetable fiber that covers the seeds of cotton, the most important and cheapest, widespread vegetable fiber.

In the  technical literature, until the second half of the nineteenth century, the “cotton” term was used instead of the word “cotton”, the “cotton paper” term that has preserved to this day in words: cotton fabric, cotton industry and others

Advantages of cotton fiber fabrics: cheap production, good hygienic properties (in terms of hygroscopicity and air permeability), ability to shrink. Disadvantages: susceptibility to pilling, abrasion, crushing (without special treatment), sensitivity to light (as in most natural fabrics), a large amount of irreversible deformations (product stretching) due to a small amount of elastic deformation.
